Dave Ahl - vocals
dave@back40band.com

Dave started the music scene about 13 yrs ago as a drummer and singer for various country bands.

In 1998, he was a member of "Broken Aero" who backed up recording artist Valerie Delecruz at WGNA's country fest.

He left the country scene forming "Flashpoint" - a rock / blues / funk band where he would drum and sing lead.

After putting the drums away he started his own business - "AHL BY MYSELF KARAOKE SERVICE".

He auditioned for "Showtime At The Apollo" in 2006 and made the show of the final 15 only to come in 2nd.

He is now back in the "LIVE" thing - hammering out strong vocals and beautiful love ballads for "THE BACK 40 BAND"...

Rick Anderson - pedal steel / vocals
rick@back40band.com

I started in the music scene at the age of 13, playing drums in my families group called the Anderson Family.  Playing on TV and having our own radio program in the Capitol Region with a recording here and there.

At the age of 16 I performed with Johnny Dollar, Van Trevor, Penny DeHaven and others working with Dick Heard Management in New York, NY and Nashville TN. Working with Dick Heard I ended up working with Nat Stuckey/ RCA Recording artist.

Then at 18 I moved back to Albany, working with my family again playing bass. At that time I started my own talent agency - The Rick Thomas Talent Agency in Latham, NY. Shortly after that came SCM Artist and Record Promotions - both companies being a member of CMA in Nashville Tenn.

One of the best times was working with my cousin Wayne Anderson, where I enjoyed the skill of song writing, not mastering the art as well as my cousin, who is a real joy to learn from.

Now being much older, but still young…. I enjoy playing pedal steel guitar (member of Pedal Steel Guitar Association since 1974) with one of the best groups in the region, 'The Back40 Band'.

I hope this bio, in short, will give some insight to my character and the person I have become.

                                                                          Yours truly,

                                                                          Rick Anderson

'DJ' Jeffords - drums / vocals
dj@back40band.com

My friends call me 'DJ' or 'Doc' a.k.a. 'The Groooove Doctor' and I've been a professional musician since age 15 - starting off in pit orchestras which led to my first band - a dixieland sextet, followed by a blur of jazz trios, quartets and big bands, rock bands, country bands, lounge acts, wedding / corporate party bands, symphony orchestras, wind ensembles, percussion ensembles, marching bands, drum & bugle corps, fife & drum corps, bagpipe bands and everything in between!!

I play drums with drum heads,

cymbals, Hardware and sticks!!

I mic the kit using 4 Sennheiser E604’s on the toms, a Shure SM-57 on the snare and an AKG D-112  (of course) on the kick. Then I sub mix the whole thing through a Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer.

After years of full time traveling and performing, I have recently settled into married life with my wife and daughter. By day I'm the Micro Computer Specialist for the Greenwich Central School District and in my spare time I dabble in producing, arranging, composing, MIDI sequencing; digital recording; computer consultation, troubleshooting and repair; desktop publishing; the odd database, spreadsheet and website design...

Away from music and computers I enjoy golf, tennis, bicycling and volleyball – for 10 years I was a starting setter for a U.S.V.B.A. traveling team and still play in local leagues.
...and then there's the family of course!!

For the whole long, boring story visit my personal site at www.thegroooovedoctor.com.

And be sure to stop by and say 'Hi' when 'The Back40 Band' comes to town
and see if old dudes really do rock harder!!
